Abstract:
Focal Point Microsystems proprietary fabrication technology for 3- dimensional micro and nano structures will revolutionize the manufacturing of microdevices. With its technology Focal Point is developing a fabrication system that consists of instrumentation and materials. The first product, the 3DLM, will be a bench-top microfabrication system capable of creating 3D objects of arbitrary shape and orientation with submicron resolution, eliminating the need for costly and lengthy fabrication using traditional 2D layer-by-layer approaches. The 3DLM will utilize consumable cartridges of Focal Point's proprietary materials that provide the state-of-the-art in speed and resolution. Focal Point is now working with several industrial customers, including two global Fortune 500 corporations to develop the 3DLM system for applications such as photonics, MEMS, microfluidics, and, tissue engineering.
