Biography:
Dr. Rudd received his B.S. from the University of Virginia, and his Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics from Princeton. Later at the Naval Research Lab in Washington DC, Dr. Rudd together with Jeremy Broughton pioneered the use of atomistic techniques and multiscale modeling to simulate MEMS devices at the nanoscale. In 1998 Dr. Rudd joined the faculty at Oxford University, and in 2000 he moved to Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, where he has continued to develop multiscale techniques in the varies fields of MEMS, fracture, quantum dot growth and biological cell mechanics.
