The Level Set Method for Modeling Epitaxial Growth

Abstract:
We have developed an island dynamics model that employs the level-set technique to describe epitaxial growth. In this method, the surface morphology is described by defining the island boundaries as the set $\varphi = 0$ of the so-called level-set function. In this talk, we will present some new results obtained with this new modeling technique for growth on singular and vicinal surfaces.
